bcs-logoWell, the first half of the Bowl season is over, now its time to see who will win some of the more “important” bowl games.

Music City Bowl: Mississippi State (6-6) vs Wake Forest (6-6)

For Mississippi State this season has been a big disappointment. The Bulldogs were proud of there coach Dan Mullen, there QB Chris Relf, and there big billboards with there new slogan “This is our State” lining the State limits of Mississippi.

Wake Forest was just happy to make a bowl this year. The Demon Deacons have there ACC schedule to thank for this bowl game. Out of Conference they were 1-3 with losses to Notre Dame, Syracuse, and Vanderbilt. In the ACC the Demon Deacons went 5-3 with wins against Florida State, Virginia Tech, and Maryland.

Prediction: Mississippi State 41 Wake Forest 13

Insight Bowl: Iowa (7-5) vs Oklahoma (9-3)

Iowa this season was 5-2 and hoping for a chance to play in a BCS Bowl. But then the Hawkeyes faced the bulk of the Big Ten and lost to Minnesota, Michigan State, and Nebraska but beat Michigan. Oklahoma on the other hand was another big letdown this season. OU started out pre-season ranked #1 and in most peoples pre-season BCS Championship game. But after starting out the season 6-0 the Sooners were upset by Texas Tech. After that OU lost to Baylor, and Oklahoma State.

Prediction: Iowa 17 Oklahoma 35

Meineke Car Care Bowl: Texas A&M (6-6) vs Northwestern (6-6)

This was supposed to be the biggest season in A&M history. The Aggies were moving to the mighty SEC, there had the “perfect” QB in Ryan Tannahill. But the Aggies lost to Oklahoma State, and Arkansas in two consecutive games. Then the Aggies won three straight games against Texas Tech, Baylor, and Iowa State, but then lost three straight against Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas State. Northwestern’ started there season off 2-0 by beating Boston College and Eastern Illinois. But then they lost five straight games. Then the WildCats finally turned the switch back on and they WildCats won four straight to put them at 6-5.

Prediction: Texas A&M 28 Northwestern 24

Sun Bowl: Georgia Tech (8-4) vs Utah (7-5)

Georgia Tech started out this season 6-0 but then lost 4 out of the last 6 games of the season. Utah had a great year compared to all the pre-season predictions. This was Utah’s first year in the Pac-12. Utah started out the season 3-4 but then after some wins against Oregon State, Arizona, UCLA, and Washington State the Utes became Bowl eligible.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 24 Utah 14

Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl: Illinois (6-6) vs UCLA (6-7)

The season started out perfect for Illinois. The began the season out 6-0 and dominated all 6 of those games. UCLA started the season out 3-3. Then finished the season out 6-6 but a loss in the Pac-12 championship game but the Bruins 6-7. But the NCAA ruled that the Bruins could become Bowl eligible if they were invited to one. Both these teams have fired there coach’s Ron Zook and Rick Neuheisel.

Prediction: Illinois 13 UCLA 24

Liberty Bowl: Cincinnati (9-3) vs Vanderbilt (6-6)

Vanderbilt surprised everyone this season. Most people, myself included thought that the ‘Dores would go 2-10 or maybe even 3-9. Cincinnati also surprised a lot of people by winning 9 games. The BearCats are one of the few teams that are staying the Big East for 2012. Vanderbilt is hoping to have its first winning season in years.

Prediction: Cincinnati 24 Vanderbilt 28

Chick-Fil-A Bowl: Virginia (8-4) vs Auburn (7-5)

This has been a let-down season for the past champions Auburn Tigers. After the Tigers lost QB Cam Newton and DT Nick Fairly most people including myself thought the Tigers would finish under .500. The Cavaliers also had a great season until they got blown out by Virginia Tech. Before that the Cavs where looking at an Outback Bowl bid.

Prediction: Virginia 24 Auburn 31

TicketCity Bowl: Houston (12-1) vs Penn State (9-3)

Houston had a record season until the C-USA championship game against Southern Mississippi. Houston was ranked as high a 6th in the BCS rankings and there QB Case Keanum was one the players mentioned in the Heisman race. Penn State is still trying to find a replacement for Joe Paterno.

Prediction: Houston 35 Penn State 38

Outback Bowl: Michigan State (10-3) vs Georgia (10-3)

Both these teams played in there conference’s championship games, both lost. Michigan State lost to Wisconsin and Georgia lost to LSU. Georgia finished the season on a 10 game win streak who started the season off 0-2 with losses to Boise State and South Carolina. Michigan State’s season has been great with there three losses coming against Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Nebraska.

Prediction: Michigan State 21 Georgia 24

Capital One Bowl: Nebraska (9-3) vs South Carolina (10-2)

South Carolina started this season out with high hopes. They had one of the top recruiting classes. They had Stephen Garcia back (at least before he got kicked off the team) and the Marcus Lattimore (until he got hurt). Nebraska started the season out 4-0 but then lost to Wisconsin. The other two games that Nebraska lost were to Northwestern and Michigan.

Prediction: Nebraska 17 South Carolina 31

Gator Bowl: Ohio State (6-6) vs Florida (6-6)

Ohio State is probably one of the luckiest teams in the NCAA. The second that they lose there franchise coach here comes along two time champion coach Urban Meyer. But before that they had to deal with 2011 first. The Buckeyes lost six games this season to Miami (FL), Michigan State, Nebraska, Purdue, Penn State and Michigan. But they also won six games against Akron, Toledo, Colorado, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Its very ironic that the Buckeyes would play against the Gators because that where Urban Meyer won his two championships. But so far the Gators have lost there Offensive Coordinator, Charlie Weis to Kansas, along with six games.

Prediction: Ohio State 21 Florida 31

Rose Bowl: Wisconsin (11-2) vs Oregon (11-2)

Wisconsin glided to a 11 win season behind the arm of Russell Wilson and the legs of Monte Ball. The only hiccup's for the Badgers were against Michigan State and Ohio State. But besides that the Badgers had a great season. Oregon was looking primed to make another run at the Championship game after losing the opening game against LSU, but were upset by USC.

Prediction: Wisconsin 24 Oregon 21

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Stanford (11-1) vs Oklahoma State (11-1)

The Stanford Cardinal is trying to win the Fiesta Bowl before they lose Andrew Luck. But Oklahoma State is trying to upset the party. Oklahoma State’s QB, Brandon Weeden is still the oldest QB in the NCAA at the age of 28 which means that he probably won’t be in the NFL next season or at Oklahoma State.

Prediction: Stanford 17 Oklahoma State 35

Sugar Bowl: Michigan (10-2) vs Virginia Tech (11-2)

Michigan started this season with high expectations after being blown-out by Mississippi State last season in the Gator Bowl. The Wolverines had there QB Denard Robinson return which maybe the reason for the high expectations. The Hokies were not even mentioned in the conversations for BCS Bowl games. The Hokies only two losses came against Clemson, twice.

Prediction: Michigan 24 Virginia Tech 28

Orange Bowl: West Virginia (9-3) vs Clemson (10-3)

West Virginia had a great season so far up until they lost to Syracuse and Louisville. Before that West Virginia had only one loss to LSU. Clemson started out the season 8-0 but then lost to Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, and South Carolina in four games.

Prediction: West Virginia 27 Clemson 38

AT&T Cotton Bowl: Kansas State (10-2) vs Arkansas (10-2)

Kansas State has been the surprise of the season this year. There only two losses came against Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Arkansas also had a great season with losses against Alabama and LSU. Arkansas was known for there comeback’s in SEC games. The Razorbacks came back from double-digit deficits against Texas A&M, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt.

Prediction: Kansas State 24 Arkansas 42

BBVA Compass Bowl: SMU (7-5) VS Pittsburgh (6-6)

SMU’s season so far has been pretty good. With losses against Texas A&M, Southern Mississippi, Tulsa, Navy, and Houston. The reason that the Mustangs made it to a bowl game was because of a five game win streak that included a win against TCU. Pittsburgh was the opposite of SMU. They would win one week then lose one week. The only two game win streak they ever had was to start the season off with wins against Buffalo and Maine.

Prediction: SMU 21 Pittsburgh 35

GoDaddy.com Bowl: Northern Illinois (10-3) vs Arkansas State (10-2)

Northern Illinois had a great season, but it did not start out that great. They lost the three of the first five games of the season. But then they won eight straight games. Arkansas State’s season was sort of like the Huskies. They started out the season by losing two of the first three games of the season. But then the Red Wolves won nine straight games.

Prediction: Northern Illinois 17 Arkansas State 31

BCS Championship Game: LSU (13-0) vs Alabama (11-1)

“The game of the century”. That’s what ESPN, and reporters world-wide tagged the matchup between the LSU Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide. LSU had a historic season this year. They only allowed an average of 10.5 points per game, good enough for second in the nation, second to Alabama who only allowed 8.8 points per game. If you don’t already know the only loss for the Crimson Tide is against LSU.

Prediction: LSU 13 Alabama 17
